Scrapbookaholic By Abby Challenge

Wow, It's Monday!!!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!  This weeks challenge over at Scrapbookaholic by Abby is to create anything Spring! 

Is it just me, or does it feel like Spring is taking a LONG TIME to get here?!  My children feel the same way.  As they were running around the house (screaming and yelling) this card idea came to me.  I started off by trying to think of something for Spring Fever.  With my little ones running in the background I started thinking about how they have cabin fever. **Lightbulb!**

As much as I wish we had a cabin, we don't; but we love to go camping.  I thought that this would be a fun card for either a boy or a girl. :) 

Recipe:
A2 card
Cabin was cut at 2.0 from Camp Out
Letters were cut at 1.0 from Old West
Sharpie (fine tip) detail on the letters
The embossing folder is an old one so I don't know the name of it (I do know that it's a PC one though)
Light brown ink pad to make the embossing stand out

On to my card.  :)  I made this for a Conservation Officer that came to talk to our Scout group.  He was AMAZING!  He really got the boys involved, and covered all the stuff we needed. :)

All of the images were cut from Camp Out.  It's an oldie, but goodie!!! :)  I can't remember sizes; I used my Gypsy to size them to fit perfectly.  The smoke/cloud with thank you was done by hand.

Oh Deer!! - Serenity Scrappers Challenge

Over at Serenity Scrappers they are putting out another challenge. :) This challenge is WOW!  No, seriously - it stands for Week of Weather.  Ok, I can't take credit for that one, they made it up (so cute)! :)  So the challenge was to make something that shows 'one of your fun weather times.'

This time of year is big for me and my hubby and our children, HUNTING SEASON.  Even though our little ones are still very little we include them in on everything we do.  I know, some people don't like it or may look down on it; but it is a time for us to be together and enjoy the outdoors as a family.  I also like it because we're able to put meat in our freezer.  So I thought I would make a card for our hunting season.  The card also has a second use - I forgot about Grandparent's Day (OOPS!!) so I made this one for my in-laws.  We go hunting with them, so I thought they might like it (that's where the 'oh deer' comes in).

The trees and the deer are from Camp Out.  I used my Gypsy (LOVE HER) to size and weld the trees.  You wouldn't have to weld them, I just wanted one nice cut.  I duplicated the cut and again used my Gypsy's hide contour feature to make is so that it didn't cut the holes in the tree branches.  After that I just used my scissors to cut the trunk off of the patterned paper.  The green and blue papers are from Stampin' Up (scraps I got from my friend).  The stamp is actually just from one of those stamp sets that has the separate letters - I just put them together to spell 'oh deer'; it's not perfect, but I liked it. :)

Fishin' a Happy Birthday

GRRRRR - is all I can say to my final result!  Don't get me wrong - I loved the challenge over at Peachy Keen Stamps! They challenged to use the color scheme and sketch below. 

I was trying to make this really cute (yet masculine), but had a few problems along the way.  Long story short - It worked, but not as planned; I ended up having to write the sentiment (that's where the GRRRR comes in).  My Dear Father-In-Law's Birthday is right around the corner.  One of the things my kids love to do with Grandpa is go fishing so this was the card we came up with. 

I used the sketch and colors from Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge, but I flipped it upside down to fit.  Like I said - not the way I wanted it to look, but it will mean a lot to him because it's from his grandkids.  I did end up doodling a little before we sent it - forgetful me forgot to take another picture, sorry!  I used the Camp Out cart for the fishing pole, the fish is from Paper Doll Dress Up, and the waves are from Plantin Schoolbook.  Pay no attention to the terrible inking job, it's a skill I still don't have mastered. :)  Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Father's Day

I just have to say that I have some amazing men in my life.  My dearest Husband (who is such a great Dad to our children), my amazing Dad, and my sweet Dad-in-law.  With Father's Day coming up I had a chance to make some cards.  I also read that My Pink Stamper is having a challenge to create a Father's Day project; I figured I needed these cards, so I wanted to make them.  One thing that I make sure to do is talk to my little ones and ask them what they love about each Grandpa and their Daddy.

My kids told me that one of their favorite things about my Dad is that they love to go feed the horses with him.  Each time we go down they make sure to buy carrots to feed to the neighbor's horses (they checked with the neighbors to make sure it was OK).  Such a simple thing, but it means the world to my little ones.  So for my Dad I made this card using the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge and a few pop dots (love those things).

When asked, my children told me that their favorite thing about their Daddy was when they play with him, and when they go 4-wheeling (a family activity).  This was made using the Camp Out cartridge (the best one for my family).  I hope my Hubby likes it. :)  My kids even picked out the colors to match his 4-wheeler.

 I didn't get a chance to make one for my wonderful Dad-in-law yet.  Just wait, I really want to make a good one (just not enough time).  I'll get it done soon though!!!! :)
