I am so excited to be in this hop.  I starting thinking about my Sweethearts (hubby and our two little ones); and what makes them/us so special.  As my mind starting running (sometimes it's hard to keep up), I thought about the play on word images.  For example "Read between the lines" has the word 'read' with a line on top and on the bottom.  **Hmmmm, maybe I'm the only one that loves those.** :)  Well, (extra) long story short, I came up with this idea. **Sorry about the picture, it is a very shiny plate.**

So this one is supposed to be "Family surrounded by love".  I know - it's super cheesy!!!!!  I thought it was cute.  The four hearts under the word 'Family' are supposed to represent my little family; you might notice that all of the hearts are linked as well (you can click on the picture for a closer look).  Not perfect, but perfect for us. :)

I started with a decorative plate.  It was given to me as a gift; but I know that you can find them for a dollar or less at places like WalMart, or even a dollar store.  Normally I would use white (or even cream colored) vinyl; but I do not own any and I don't have money in the budget for it right now (very strict budget).  Instead I used paper and my other favorite item - MOD PODGE!!! 

The letters are from the Birthday Cakes cartridge.  I used my Gypsy to weld and slightly tip the letters in the word 'LOVE'.  They were cut at 1.  The word 'FAMILY' is from the same cart and cut at 1.75.  The hearts are from Accent Essentials cut at 1.5.

Inking It Up Crazy DT Post

WOW!!!  First I just want to let Kassidy know that it has been such a pleasure to be part of the Inking It Up Crazy DT!!!!  I have had such a fun time!!!  Kassidy thought it would be fun to do a altered item.  Well, this one has a really cute story.

My little girl just started Kindergarten this year and loves it!!!  She has been doing her 'homework' at the kitchen table *the homework is usually just a notebook to practice letters, or a workbook we got at WalMart*.  My husband and I told her that if she was old enough to keep her room clean, we would get her a desk.  Well, she kept her end of the bargain, so we kept ours.  We found a really nice desk at a second-hand store (D.I.) for only $15.  We did a little bit of work on it, but it now looks like new.  Well, the other day she asked if she could keep pencils and crayons in her room (we've had trouble with her writing on the walls) so we told her that we will give her a chance.  We don't live near any big stores, so I started thinking.  I've been under the weather (stupid head cold/cough thing!!!) so I've been eating a lot of soup.  So I decided that the soup cans would work perfectly!!!  So here's what I made for her. :)

Like I said I started out with a soup can.  Since it has an edge I used some extra material I had lying around to put over the edge.  There might be another way to do it, but I just used hot glue.



















I glued it around the top, then put some glue on the inside and pushed the rest of the material down. (I hope that makes sense)

After that I just used Mod Podge to glue the paper to the can.  I used my Cricut to cut out the words and added those onto it using a little more Mod Podge.  Add a ribbon and it's done!

Very simple and yet so useful.  My little girl picked out the papers and ribbon which made it even more special for her.

Door Hanging Letter

One of my (many) weaknesses is the fact that I am a very passionate and . . . um . . . energetic person (it really can be a curse). I tend to volunteer for MANY things. I figure if I'm blessed with all of these things in my life - I should share; right?! :) My church group is something I volunteer myself for, and I mean I volunteer for just about EVERYTHING (sometimes I'm shocked they don't tell me to stop volunteering). Well, we have an activity with the ladies where we get together and can make several things. They asked (since I volunteer all of my ideas anyways) if I would help come up with more ideas. There are several things I found online and thought would be simple to try. This was one of those ideas. I just took some matching paper and Mod Podged it onto the letter. I like the colors and figured if they fade or I get sick of them I can always put something different on it. You just attach a ribbon and hang it from your front door. What do you think? NSD MPS Challenge 7

This challenge was to create something for your Dad or guy in your life. As I was trying to think of a card that reminded me of my Dad, I looked over at a small calendar that I had. For anyone that knows me, they know that if I get a gut feeling I have to run with it. This was the end result.
